Understably, it is the social stigma that is denying their rightful place in the society, however, a lot has also to do with the feudalistic age-old practice of Hijras who follow the 'chela' tradition. An exploitative hierarchy like caste that subordinates a young Hijra to a senior regarless of former's educational and skill background. Even in an episode of 'Ipadikku Rose' a Hijra despite being a IT graduate revealed about her bitter days of begging in trains to conform to the 'chela' tradition. I believe it is time to do a social re-engineering of Indian Hijra community. The gen-X Hijras should break the shackles of oppressive 'chela' customs and be rationally independent. Begging is not imposed upon hijras by the society it is the Indian TS community that self-advocates the bane in the name of archaic custom and tradition. Let me share a thought on how IT can empower Hijras. The booming IT and ITES industry is opening the flood-gates of opportunity the India way. There are new trends like working from home appearing in the employment horizon. You don't have to physically travel to your work place. you can remain anonym and work. It is time for people like you to catch the tide, train your educated people in BPO and ITES skills so they can grab high paid jobs from their homes itself. All you need is a PC and a broad band internet connection. You are young, educated, empowered and emancipated. You can be an Ambedkar, Nelson Mandela or a Cheguvera of your community if you rope in revolutionary changes in your brethren's life without resorting to forceful revolution. posted by: udatto (reply) post date: 07.04.08 (4:21 am) kalki congrts first for being proud of what u r urself.there r so many tranladies who dont comeout with their true personality for several reasons.u like a handful of others have won over the social stigma.i hv come across ur orkt profle n therefrm i hv had an access to ur blog.u r pretty, u r attractive n unlike other pretty n attractive ladies u r intelligent too:).do u come calcutta at all.if u do i would like to meet u once for nothing actually n again for so manythings at least to continue looking at u for hours together.i'm a straight guy with an inclination towrds tranladies.be good do good.bst wishs posted by: T N.Muralimoghan (reply) post date: 07.05.08 (1:48 am) hai, kalki, i feel atlost i found a right person to lead my long thoughts and desprate to persue . your name is the era of the presence and need of the the hour to GD's. posted by: Tnmuralimoghan (reply) post date: 07.05.08 (1:54 am) if you find time pls visit my blog luvinghearts in yahoo360' thank you posted by: tampi (reply) post date: 07.05.08 (7:46 am) i think that a movie was made in kerala about tgs posted by: p abhijith (reply) post date: 09.14.08 (1:16 am) i am a photo journalist and conducted photo exhibition on hijras in kerala this year.ur decision is very good . my hearty congrajulations posted by: p abhijith (reply) post date: 09.14.08 (1:20 am) my no9895503513 posted by: yalguresh (reply) post date: 04.02.09 (1:17 am) iam very much impressed posted by: yalguresh (reply) post date: 04.02.09 (1:18 am) iam very much impressed and my no is 09480205214 posted by: yalguresh (reply) post date: 04.02.09 (1:20 am) dear kalki iam very much impressed about your work and i want to talk with you my no is 09480205214 |
