Support to the Kerala transgender women
08.09.09 (12:54 pm)   [edit]
The Kerala government should extend its support for transgender people. Has anyone talked in the Kerala assembly on this issue? I haven't come across any news like that. The reason obviously is that, there are no transgender rights activists out, open and courageous in Kerala. However, this will change.

The fear of being discriminated, victimized and hurt stops transgender women to work for their rights. The educated young people of Kerala are open and understanding on sexual minorities issues. During my visits for lecturing in two different colleges, I have experienced this. Kerala's young people are very intelligent and will definitely support the socially under privileged people like transgenders. They need sensitization from the media.

From Blogger Pictures

Sahodari will support groups/organizations who will work for transgender rights and social acceptance in Kerala. In Kottayam, we have helped three transgender girls to form a group called 'Snehabhavanam'. Prior to that, I invited them to Chennai for a consultation meeting on the needs of transgenders in Kerala and Tamilnadu. There were 13 transgender women from Tamilnadu and only three from Kerala. The three women who were representing Kerala were Kareena, Karishma and Anitha. Sahodari supported Transgender Rights Association, Tamilnadu in facilitating this meeting.

These girls learned on human rights issues and were absolutely awestruck to know how in Tamilnadu have we have progressed in the transgender rights movement.

I am very glad when noticed that you have turned your attentions towards the issues of the LGBTs in Kerala.

I am appreciating your works and i am very interested to communicate with the office bearers of snehabavam, please mail me in below Ids.

My best wishes to Ms.Kareena,Karishma&Anitha.
I am very optimistic in the near future the Twmn in Kerala will gain the social status

u are doing great work. I would like to pointout a few things.TGs should get away from sex work activities. that is one of the reasons why society looks down on them. They should find alternate jobs. your organisation should assist them to change profession and educate them for alternate professions. TGs should become socially active. They should start exposing illegal activities in their neighbour hood. Journalism, alternative healing, primary health work etc are suitable to TGs and activities in these areas will make society notice them with respect.
best regards
mohan

Agreeing with mohan.
Also some control or instructions/actions should come from the side of Sahodari/Sangamam or other similare organisations to prevent TGs frm making disturbances in train journey by collecting money. They are acting in a manner like thts their right to collect..beleive some of them are not TGs at all.

Reply to Rajasekhar:
Stupid fellow, dont thnk those words came frm yur heart. If that was true you would have the guts to approach her directly with yur proposal rather than post a comment like this in this forum. This is appeared as only a dirty comment frm a neuro patient.
Could you pls consider her as a Sahodari(Sister)rather than as your partner? So that society will get benefited thru her life and activities.
One more Stupid to you frm my heart, otherwise my hotblood will not be cool today.
